The Eagle West Crane Academy will cover a lot of ground in the theory courses. The theory courses will include a review of the WorkSafeBC regulations, power-line safety, crane inspection, and site hazards. The course will also cover rigging knowledge, review the applications of hardware and go over load chart knowledge. Through-out the program you will be quizzed, giving you direct feedback of your knowledge. Here is a complete list of what our theory courses will cover:
- Introduction of crane certification process
- Safety fundamentals for crane operators
- Communications knowledge
- Rigging knowledge
- Load chart knowledge
- Crane rigging charts
- Crane pre-trip inspections & set-up
- Crane operation knowledge
- Crane service & maintenance
The practical programs will involve hands-on learning that focuses on identifying crane components, terminology, and operations. One student will be the crane Operater & one student will signal and rig. Here is a list of what all our practical courses will cover:
- Identify crane components & their functions
- Knowing crane terminology
- Proper use of remote control and its functions
- Identifying wire ropes and rigging
- Identifying documents and regulations for rigging and wire rope.
- Pre-use inspection on crane
- Performing different rigging techniques
- Field use of hand signals and radio
- Perform proper lifting and lowering of loads
- The fee for this program is only for the use of our equipment for your assessment
- We will set up the assessment for you, with Fulford Harbour
Tower Crane Assessments
Tower Crane Assessments to be completed at the Academy require you (the operator) to be registered with the I.T.A. and to have successfully completed the Written Theory Exam.
