Cam Jeanson: Over 20 Years of Service for Eagle West
Meet Cam Jeanson
Cam Jeanson, 55, is a Technical Sales Representative for Eagle West Cranes working out of our head office in Abbotsford, B.C. In May 2012, Cam will be celebrating 21 years of service with Eagle West, with four years in his current position. Cam's earlier years were spent as a stiff boom and hydraulic crane operator.
During his operating days, Cam was trained on equipment ranging from an 8 ton Pittman Stiff Boom crane, a 14, 28, & 40 ton stiff boom, and a 70 ton hydraulic crane. While operating the 8 ton Pittman he was given the nickname “Hammer” as in hammer down, since the crane was so loud and obnoxious you had to hammer down on the pedals to get it to go. Cam even tried his hand in dispatch for a couple weeks but found it wasn’t for him and returned to operating equipment. Soon after, in August 2007, he applied for the Technical Sales Rep position and hasn’t looked back.
Why Eagle West?
"My time here feels like 5 or 10 years, not nearly 21. I can sincerely say that I love my job"
Cam’s history with Eagle West begins in the same place & time as our very own CEO Jim Barkman. Jim’s vision was to start a company from the ground up with family values and a culture of caring at the center; acquiring a devoted team of trained professionals with the same shared values. Cam soon noticed Jim’s vision quickly became a reality and he joined the Eagle West family six months later on May 13, 1991. Eagle West core values: humility, honesty, integrity, caring, creativity and teamwork have been evident from the start, helping them find and hold onto a qualified, safe, & committed team of specially trained professionals like Cam.
A Day In The Life
Thoughtfully, Cam said “It’s a tough job, sales; you’ve got to have a hard, thick skin but a kind nature”. A typical day in the life as a Technical Sales Representative for Eagle West Cranes begins at 6am and it isn’t uncommon to be discussing project quotes with customers until eight or nine at night.
Cam’s days are filled with various tasks like new customer calls, assisting with the placement of a crane on a project site, performing a “look-at” for a customer, providing project quotes, invoicing, billing and crisis control. “When competitors go do a look-at for a customer, see their need and walk away saying ‘I can’t do that’ we at Eagle West see it as a challenge and do everything we can to not only meet their project needs but exceed their expectations as well”.
Even though, “People are people; we deal with the good and the bad on a daily basis” Cam commented, he enjoys his job because he likes working closely with other people, solving problems and experiencing a variety of different people and situations every day.
Moving Forward
In May 2012, the Eagle West family will be celebrating Cam Jeanson’s 21 Years of Service. Cam looks forward to continuing to work with Eagle West til retirement and until then, is continuously committed to excellent customer service and personal development through Eagle West.
