Mission Critical Focus: Corporate Culture, Vision & Growth
Jim Barkman founded Eagle West Cranes Inc in 1990, leading the Eagle West family as President & CEO from the start. From the first day forward, Jim considers himself a member of the team through his every day engagement with all employees. Jim also leads the Capital, Executive, Strategic Planning & Leadership Teams for Eagle West and Stampede Crane.
Jim has a significant commitment to team work and genuinely enjoys the people he works with. He believes that by taking care of the Eagle West family, they will be better equipped to take care of clients, a philosophy which has resulted in the growth of a uniquely positive corporate culture and one which was key in Jim being a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2010.
For Jim, the reward lies in his ability to problem solve, and no problem is unsolvable. He has a natural talent for the work he commits himself to, but accounts his success to viewing himself as a student and maintaining an attitude geared to learn more every day.
Likewise, Jim gives back to his industry most recently as the Co-Chair of the BC Association of Crane Safety from 2005 through 2010. He is deeply committed to the community he lives in and spends quality time involved with many groups and charities who add value to all our lives in BC and Alberta.
In his spare time, Jim’s hobbies include golfing and travelling, often to Phoenix to soak up the sunshine. His advice to those aspiring to be in his shoes is to understand thyself with absolute clarity and leverage your strengths, while managing your weaknesses all to best of your ability.
Jim has been married for over 34 years and has three children.
