One of Eagle West Crane’s largest cranes was hoisting heavy structures to the top of Kelowna General Hospital on Saturday.

Workers were on the ground and roof of the hospital’s Centennial Building as the 270-tonne hydraulic crane lifted components of a new cellular antenna that will be mounted to the side of the six-storey building.

Rogers and Telus commissioned the project. The operation started at 5 a.m. and finished about 3:30 p.m.

Traffic control crews directed traffic along Pandosy Street around the base of the crane for several hours. This is Eagle West Cranes standard for public safety when the crane’s footprint impede’s upon traffic.
