Your One-Stop Precast Concrete Shop.

Precast Concrete Products

Precast concrete is one of the ways we keep BC job sites moving. We stock precast concrete road barriers, OCTA-BLOC® blocks, and precast concrete parking curbs, and, because we’re a crane and rigging company first, we deliver and hoist every product ourselves instead of handing it off to a third-party trucking outfit. That’s the difference between ordering concrete and ordering concrete that shows up on time, in the right spot, set by the same crew that will answer the phone if something needs adjusting.

What Is Precast Concrete?

Precast concrete is exactly what it sounds like: concrete products poured, vibrated, and cured in a controlled factory setting rather than on site. Steel moulds keep every unit uniform, and each piece is cured to its required strength before it ever leaves the plant. That controlled process is what gives precast an edge over cast-in-place work for barriers, blocks, and curbs. You get consistent dimensions, steel-reinforced strength, and a finished product ready to transport and place the day it arrives, rather than a pour that has to cure on site before anyone can build around it.

Choosing the Right Precast Product for Your Site

Barriers, blocks, and curbs solve different problems, and picking the wrong one usually shows up later as a rework.

Road Barriers

Road barriers are the right choice when the job involves live traffic or public access: highway medians, lane closures, construction zone perimeters, or protecting a work crew from passing vehicles. A median barrier is built to redirect an out-of-control vehicle back into its own lane, while a roadside or perimeter barrier is more about holding a line, keeping traffic, pedestrians, or equipment out of a defined area. If your traffic control plan calls for barriers under BC MoTI’s Traffic Management Manual, this is the product category you’re working from.

OCTA-BLOC® Concrete Blocks

Blocks are the answer when you need mass and a footprint, not a traffic barrier profile. Their interlocking shape stacks into retaining walls, temporary containment bins, or perimeter walls around storage and staging areas, and, because they interlock rather than bond, a wall built from OCTA-BLOC® can be taken down and reconfigured as a project evolves. If the goal is holding back material or defining a large enclosed area rather than managing vehicle traffic, blocks are usually the better fit.

Parking Curbs

Curbs are the smallest product and the most specific in purpose: keeping a parked vehicle from rolling into a building, a piece of equipment, or another vehicle. They’re not designed to stop a moving vehicle the way a barrier is, so don’t substitute one for the other in a traffic control application. For lot organization, loading zones, and building protection, curbs are the right call.

Why Use Our Precast Concrete

High-Quality

Manufactured with high-quality, steel-reinforced concrete built to hold up under real job site use.

Manufactured In-House

We pour, vibrate, and cure our own products in a controlled facility instead of reselling someone else's stock.

Delivered by a certified crew

Our own certified operators, many holding Red Seal designations, and BC Crane Safe credentials handle transport and placement, not a subcontractor.

Delivery, Hoisting, and Installation

Ordering precast concrete from a crane and rigging company changes how delivery works. Once your barriers, blocks, or curbs are ready, our own trucks bring them to site and our own mobile cranes lift them into position, so there’s no coordination gap between the supplier and the rigging crew. We’ve delivered and placed precast concrete blocks and barriers on countless BC sites, and we know how to get a load exactly where it needs to be, whether that’s tight urban access or an open industrial yard. One crew handles the whole job, from the yard to the final placement.

Planning Your Precast Concrete Project

Bigger precast orders, especially barrier runs for a traffic control plan or large block walls, benefit from the same planning process we use on our crane projects generally. Our team can walk through:

  1. Project pre-planning and site visits to confirm access and placement
  2. Certified rigging and engineering review for larger or unusual layouts
  3. Logistics planning, including permits and coordination with your traffic control plan where barriers are involved
  4. Onsite execution, with our crew handling delivery, hoisting, and final placement in one visit

Reach out early if you’re still finalizing a traffic control plan or site layout. We’d rather help you plan the load than solve a placement problem after the trucks are already on their way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is precast concrete used for?

Precast concrete covers a wide range of job site needs, from road barriers that manage traffic and protect work zones to interlocking blocks for retaining walls and containment, to curbs that organize parking areas and protect property from vehicle contact.

What's the difference between a median barrier and a roadside barrier?

A median barrier is designed to catch and redirect an out-of-control vehicle back into its own lane, which matters most where opposing traffic runs close together. A roadside or perimeter barrier is more about holding a boundary, keeping vehicles, pedestrians, or equipment out of a defined area, rather than managing a head-on collision risk.

How long does precast concrete need to cure before it's installed?

Our precast products are cured to their required strength in a controlled facility before they ever leave the plant, so by the time we deliver, they’re ready to place immediately. There’s no onsite curing wait the way there would be with a cast-in-place pour.

Can precast concrete barriers be moved once they're installed?

Yes. That’s one of the advantages of precast over a cast-in-place barrier. Since our crew delivers and places every unit with our own cranes, we can also come back and relocate barriers as a project phase changes or a traffic control plan is updated.

Can OCTA-BLOC® be used for a temporary structure?

Yes. Thanks to its interlocking design, OCTA-BLOC® is well suited to temporary retaining walls, containment bins, and perimeter walls around staging or storage areas. Since the blocks interlock rather than bond permanently, a wall can be reconfigured or taken down as the project changes.

Do you deliver and install precast concrete products, or just supply them?

Both. We’re a crane and rigging company, so our own trucks and mobile cranes handle transport and placement for everything we supply. You’re not coordinating between a concrete supplier and a separate rigging company.
