Roofing Crane Services

We support roofing contractors and property owners across British Columbia with the crane capacity to get materials, equipment, and crews on and off the roof safely. Whether you’re re-roofing a strip mall or handling a multi-storey commercial tower, our Technical Service team plans the lift around your building, your schedule, and your crew. How does a crane help with roofing projects?

A crane lets a roofing crew move gravel hopper loads, self-dumping bins, pallet forks, and clamshell buckets straight to the roof deck instead of relying on a rooftop hoist or repeated forklift trips. That means fewer trips through stairwells and ladders, faster material staging, and a crew that spends its time roofing instead of hauling. We size the crane and pick from our fleet, folding boom, stiff boom, or hydraulic all-terrain, based on your building height, roof access, and the loads you need moved.

Safely working to bring your crew home every day

Our Technical Centre handles your roofing project from planning through execution, so pick-up, prep-work, and hoisting are all covered with one call. That starts with rigging the load correctly: our crews account for the weight of the bins, hoppers, or pallets themselves, not just the shingles, isoboard, or gravel inside them, and we plan for wind and weight distribution before anything leaves the ground.

The lift itself looks different depending on the job. On a low-rise commercial flat roof, we typically position a mobile crane close to the building and swing bundles of shingles or rolled roofing directly over the parapet wall to the staging area. On a high-rise re-roof, reach and precision matter more than raw capacity, so we favour a stiff boom or hydraulic all-terrain crane that can hold a steady, controlled lift over multiple floors without repeated repositioning.

We also bring a tradition of safety and outstanding customer service to every roofing job, backed by our COR certification. Safety is our top priority, and it shows in how we plan and run every lift.

Frequently asked questions

What size crane do I need for a roofing job?

It depends on your roof’s height, access, and the weight of the materials you’re moving. A single-storey commercial re-roof might only need a smaller mobile crane positioned curbside, while a high-rise project calls for greater reach and a steadier hold over multiple floors. Our team walks the site with you before quoting so the crane matches the actual job, not a guess.

Can a crane reach materials over a parapet wall or rooftop equipment?

Yes. Our operators regularly swing gravel hoppers, bins, and bundled materials over parapet walls and around rooftop mechanical units on commercial buildings, which is one of the reasons a crane often beats a standard hoist on flat-roof jobs.

Do you handle the permits for a roofing lift in a busy area?

Our relationships with municipalities across BC mean we handle the city and road permits your lift needs, along with traffic control where the job site requires it, so your crew isn’t the one navigating that paperwork.

How long does a roofing crane rental take from call to crane on site?

Once we’ve done a complimentary site visit and confirmed the scope, our Technical Service Centre coordinates pick-up, prep, and hoisting as one package. Call our office and we’ll walk you through timing for your specific project.

What happens if weather changes during a lift?

Our certified operators plan every lift around wind and weight distribution from the start, and we’ll adjust or reschedule rather than push a load in conditions that compromise safety. Bringing your crew home every day comes before hitting a deadline.

Do you provide the equipment used to move materials, or just the crane?

Both. Alongside the crane and operator, we rent the gravel hopper, self-dumping bins, pallet forks, and clamshell buckets your roofing crew needs, all CSA certified, so you aren’t sourcing attachments separately.

Is a crane worth it for a smaller roofing project?

Often, yes. A single call that covers site visit, permits, freight, and hoisting can save more crew time than it costs, even on a smaller job, particularly if roof access is tight or the building has limited crew capacity for manual material handling.
